Note

Well, the first 3D enhanced Gradius on Arcade. It has been 9 years since the pervious chapter GRADIUS III which was first released on AC in 1989. This is the lastest version of Gradius in the 90's, and possibly also the best and most interesting one. So bad that this game didn't exported to any country until beyond Septebmer 1999 as my understanding. But so good that we will have a chance to play this great game in the next year after the release, in the GRADIUS III & IV on Playstation 2.

The first stage is very similar to the classical Burning Heat stage of GRADIUS II. In which the burning suns are replaced by some golden metallic liquid. You will have to fight against two different enemies in the boss (can be transform in shape). The first one is a dragon and the second one is seems appear in random (1/3 chance). Or I think it is more likey that it also depends on your weapon equipments.Difficulty apparently increased from stage 2 and on, but lucky that the game level is not as crazy as the previous chapter GRADIUS III.

The game style is quite totally different from the previous series. The control is a little bit like the one in SALAMANDER 2. The overall feeling is unique and... good!

After the ending theme of the game, a password together with your score will show up at the lower right corner of the screen. This screen will hold for seconds. Also, the password screen will show up after game over beyond the 1st loop. The password is designed for applying record to the offical internet ranking of AC GRADIUS IV. But please notice that Konami have stopped collecting score for this ranking since 18:00 of 27 August, 1999. So I think the password is no use for now, but you may perfer to keep it as I did so.
